Turkey Trot Takes 5th Run Through North Beverly The 5 th annual Beverly Hills Turkey Trot 5K Run and Family Walk, presented by The PrivateBank, will be held Sat., Nov. 30 beginning at 9 a.m. Participants will run or walk through historic North Beverly. Get Mixin'
Get In, Get Art, a monthly series of free art activities for all ages is offered at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., presents Get Mixin' on Sun., Dec., 1, 1 to 3 p.m. Get Mixin' covers the art of holiday entertaining and decorating. Bartenders from The Harvest Room, a farm to table restaurant in Palos Heights, will present a mixology workshop for adults. Cookie decorating artists Mindy Day and Laurie Ach will teach kids and adults how to make spectacular holiday cookies. Join the BAC Challange! The BAC Business Challenge committee is currently meeting with business owners in Beverly/Morgan Park, Mount Greenwood, Evergreen Park, Blue Island and other area communities to schedule Buy In to the BAC Challenge fund raisers. Shoe Collection
The Children's Ministry at Morgan Park United Methodist Church, 11030 S. Longwood Dr., has launched a project to collect as many new and used shoes as possible to help less fortunate children all over the world. The shoes will be sent to the organization Soles For Souls, which sells the shoes to a business and uses the proceeds to purchase new shoes for those in need. Drop off shoes at the church by Dec. 24. |
Open Auditions The Chicago Park District's Munroe Park Theater Guild will hold open auditions for the winter production, "Almost, Maine," a quirky, romantic comedy by John Cariani, Mon., Dec. 2 and Wed., Dec. 4, 7 to 9 p.m., Ridge Park, 9625 S. Longwood Dr. Call backs Fri., Dec. 6, 7 to 10 p.m. "Almost, Maine" is an ensemble play about couples in various stages of falling in or out of love. The cast will include 6 to 12 actors between the ages of 18 and 50, and each actor will play multiple roles. Rehearsals will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 7 to 10 p.m. beginning Dec. 16.
