Merry Christmas to our friends and family!

It is. hard to believe another year is ending. The days fly by as we enjoy the beauty of the mountains by hiking and biking or just watching the weather change. Now we are switching our hiking boots for snowshoes. We were fortunate to have many visitors to the area stay with us to relax.

Our family grew with the birth of grandbaby Kingston on January 2nd. Kurt became engaged and we await the wedding date. Gracie and Nina roam the ranch watching the wilflife come through. Our solar dome greenhouse produced a delicious bounty and we are working to grow during the cold days of January and February. In April we will cruise the Danube River to celebrate Jim's 65th.

We wish you and yours all the blessings of this Christmas season - Peace, Joy and Love

Thanks

I just wanted to add a round of applause to Taffy Cannon, Susan Budash, Will Hepburn, Judy Halligan Willingham, Craig Hullinger, Mirjana Sampros, Dennis Carlson, David Noren... may he rest in peace and who is missed), Barb Wilcox, Linda Larson (Tinsel Town Tattler) and others whom I'm not aware of who have worked so hard to establish events and social connections between our alumni. We owe our friendship connections to you for all of the hard work, diligence and friendliness you workers have volunteered to do.

Thank you so much and I just wanted to express deep appreciation for your giving attitudes and sweat equity you all have contributed. Thank you. All of you have done a fabulous job. Please forgive me for anyone's name that was left out.

Raising Old Chicago

The city of Chicago is just above Lake Michigan. There was little natural drainage. Standing water festered and caused living epidemics including typhoid fever and dysentery.

The crisis forced the city install storm sewers. Much of the city was raised several feet to the new grade. Homes, sidewalks, and streets were raised. Older homes were moved to other lots and new homes were constructed.

Garlows (Garage Bungalow)

Interesting housing types in the old south side of Chicago. A small home on a slab that was a combination garage bungalow (Garlow) was built on the rear of the lot, with an eventual plan to build a larger home on the front of the lot.

Mini Reunion December 9, 2011

Beggar's Pizza Night - Friday, December 9th at 7:00 PM

Hey EMPEHI Pizza Lovers, and/or lovers of conversation and whatnot, hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. A while back there was a request for a Beggar's Pizza night to be on Friday, December 9th at 7:00 pm. Well, that is still the game plan for anyone who is interested. So, hope to see a large turn-out for a great way to start off the Christmas Holiday season. Should I ask if we can have the pizza baked in the shape of a Christmas Tree?? or, any other Holiday representation??
