Picasso in Chicago

Picasso and Chicago explores the 100-year-old relationship between a modern master and a modern city. Now we want to hear your Picasso story! Tell us about a favorite artwork, your first Picasso experience, or anything else that connects you to his life and work.

Mirjana Bartl Siampos MPHS Jan 66 shared The Art Institute of Chicago's photo on Facebook.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Picasso
The Chicago Picasso (often just The Picasso) is an untitled monumental sculpture by Pablo Picasso in Chicago, Illinois. The sculpture, dedicated on August 15, 1967, in Daley Plaza in the Chicago Loop, is 50 feet (15.2 m) tall and weighs 162 short tons (147 t).

The sculpture celebrated art rather than civic achievement. Just after noon, Mayor Richard J. Daley pulled a cord attached to 1,200 square feet of blue-green fabric, unwrapping a gift "to the people of Chicago" from an artist who had never visited--and had shown no previous interest in--the city.
