It was a long time ago.
I flew into Freedom Hill, Da Nang, South Vietnam on Christmas Eve 24 December of 1969. Missed the Bob Hope show, but saw some great fireworks from tracer rounds and pop flairs from Hill 327 and 244. We thought it was a big firefight - it was just Marines and Soldiers shooting to celebrate.

This is not the normal Bob Hope USO show entertaining our troops that we have been viewing in the past on YouTube, but actually a video by Bob Hope telling us WHY these shows were performed, and the effects the shows had on him, his performers and the servicemen who were in attendance.
