Recollections of high school days extended to memories of attending Barnard Elementary, How the times have changed early education.
Then: no school uniforms; walking home for lunch; an appreciation that being respectful was expected, although we had freedom to express ourselves.
Now: a lengthy handbook with the rules:
- strict dress codes; closed campus with lunch in the school and guidelines for healthy foods; contracts for classroom behavior and use of personal electronic devices.
Never thought I would say I grew up in a more simple and fun era!
