PEORIA — For the second year in row, Chicago Morgan Park left Carver Arena with a first-place trophy.
The Mustangs (24-6) used a big second-half rally to knock off Lincoln 59-49 on Saturday afternoon to win its second consecutive Class 3A state title.
The victory also marked the ninth straight year a team from the Chicago Public League won at least one boys basketball state title.
Trailing by 13 with 1:47 left in the third, Morgan Park turned up the tempo and went on a 26-2 spurt that spanned the third and fourth quarters to take a 52-41 lead. The Mustangs forced 10 Lincoln turnovers during the run.
