Obituary
Dujsik, Lawrence "Larry" 63, of South Chicago Heights, transitioned from this world to the next in the presence of his family on February 4, 2014. He was born to the late John and Lucille Dujsik, October 20, 1950, in Chicago. Larry graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1968, and received a BA in Criminal Justice from University of Illinois at Chicago in 1972, an MA in Counseling from St. Xavier University, and a JD from Valparaiso University.
Larry was an officer with the police department of South Chicago Heights from 1972 to 1989, achieving the rank of lieutenant, before becoming a counselor at Olympia Fields Hospital, where he aided with the care of people with psychiatric disorders. While still serving the people of his village, he completed his law degree and went into practice in 1990 as a Cook County Guardian Ad Litem for abused and neglected children.
He began work as an attorney at a local law firm with Mark Hickey and the late J.D. Hillard. Since then, he has been a solo practitioner of the law and was a member of the American Bar Association.
Larry was a parishioner of Infant Jesus of Prague in Flossmoor and St. Mary's of the Lake in New Buffalo, MI. He was an all-time champion of children, especially the students of Seton Academy in South Holland. Larry loved to help other people. Larry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathleen (née Flynn) and his two children, Mark (companion Becky Schmitt) and Laura (fiancé Christopher Hankins). He is also survived by two brothers, Gerald (Deborah) and Donald, and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Flynn and Dorothy Marie Flynn. He also leaves behind his darling dog, Bailey. He was predeceased by his beloved mother-in-law, Dorothy Flynn, who passed away on January 7, 2014; and father-in-law, Thomas F. Flynn; his brother, William (Marian), who died on January 30, 2014; and his brother-in-law, William (Bill) Flynn. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St. (U.S. Rt. 30, 3 blks E. of Western Ave.), Chicago Heights on Sunday, February 9th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Monday morning 9:15 a.m. to Infant Jesus of Prague Church, Flossmoor. Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Evergreen Park. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Seton Academy Larry Dujsik Memorial Scholarship Fund.
