Jack Simmerling is an artist of great and endearing and enduring talent. You can see this for yourself by walking into The Heritage Gallery at 1915 W. 103rd St. in the Beverly neighborhood. His watercolors, drawings and prints, numbering a couple of hundred, hang on the walls and in colorful fashion bring this city to life.
Though some of his works are rural landscapes, most are firmly focused on Chicago. There may not be a person alive who has painted more local buildings — those that are and those that once were.
