CORLISS (CORI) MAE (BRIGGS) LINKLATER
Corliss (Cori) Mae (Briggs) Linklater, 76, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024, in Friendswood, TX at her son’s home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 9, 1947, in Chicago, IL where she graduated from Morgan Park High School and met the love of her life Bill. They married in 1967 and settled in Tinley Park, IL to raise their family. She devoted her life to raising her family and was very involved in the Tinley Park Bulldogs organization for 10 years where she was a cheerleading coach, team mom, and supported many fundraising efforts. After successfully raising their family they moved to Frankfort, IL and then in 2016 she moved to Venice, FL for the remainder of her retirement years.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jack & Delphine Briggs, and her devoted husband of 41 years of William J. Linklater, Sr. Cori is survived by her children William Jr (Trina), Robin Linklater, and Scott (Roxanne); her sister Judy (Briggs)Flores; her grandchildren Tyler, Allison, Stacy, Tracy, Sherry, Sandy and Scott and her beloved papillon Princess. Cori was an aunt to 25 nieces and nephews, a cherished member of a very large extended family and a beloved friend to all.
She had a passion for spending time with her family and friends and loved to be adventurous by frequently traveling with her children, grandchildren and friends.
A memorial and mass will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 10:30am at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Drive, Friendswood, TX 77546. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial donation in Cori’s memory may do so to Hope Village, 15403 Hope Village Road, Friendswood, TX 77546 or by visiting hope-village.com.
We are sorry to hear of her passing.

Very sorry to hear it, Dave. I will let his classmates know. Al was in the MPHS Jan 1966 class and was in ROTC at EMPEHI. He served in the US Army in Korea and served many years in the Army Reserve at Fort Sheridan. He published a very interesting military blog: https://militaryanalysis.blogspot.com/. He will be missed.

Albert Edwin Linsenmeyer of Bolingbrook, IL has passed away on July 22nd, 2024 at the age of 76.
Albert was the beloved cousin of Leon (Valerie) Walker, Gary (Joan) Walker, Paula (Bruce) Boettner, Wayne (Christine) Peters, and Janice (Joel) Rudzik.
A visitation for Albert will be held on Thursday, August 1st from 10 - 11 AM with eulogies at 11:30 AM at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home located on 530 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook, IL 60440.

Coach Bill Warden Rest In Peace
Mar. 31, 2023 - The North Central College athletic department extends its sympathies to the family of Bill Warden '55, who passed away on March 25 at the age of 90. Bill is the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Cardinal men's basketball program who also coached the team to unprecedented success.
Bill played for the Cardinals from 1951-55 and still holds several of the program's all-time records, including the career records for points scored (2,249), points per game (28.5) and field goals made (847). Bill was named a First Team NAIA All-American by the Helms Foundation following his junior season, making him the Cardinals' first All-American in the sport.
After turning down a professional opportunity from the Minneapolis Lakers, Bill embarked upon a distinguished high school coaching career which included winning the boys' IHSA Class 2A State Championship at Morgan Park High School in 1976. Bill returned to North Central as the Cardinals' head coach in 1981 and won a school-record 204 games in 16 seasons, including College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) championships in 1985, 1989 and 1990.

Biography: Bill Warden has the unique situation of being inducted into the IBCA Hall of Fame in 1983 as both a coach and as a player. Bill Warden served from 1960 to 1980 as head basketball coach at Chicago’s Morgan Park HS. His overall record there was 288 – 208 (he didn’t coach during the 1961 – 62 season). Warden’s teams won conference titles in 1965, 1972, 1975 and 1976. Chicago Public League championships came in 1974 and 1976. The 1975 Morgan Park team was Public League runner-up. Morgan Park made state tourney appearances in 1974, 75 and 76. The 1976 club brought the state championship to Morgan Park in one of the best championship game finishes in IHSA history. Beginning in 1981, Warden served as head coach at his college alma mater North Central College in Naperville for several years.
Bill Warden, as a player, began his high school career at Oak Park-River Forest High School. After his four-year stint as a prep star, where he was an all-Suburban League selection in 1954 and the league’s second-leading scorer, Warden distinguished himself at North Central College in Naperville. Four times he was all-CCIW and was the first player in NAIA history to average 30 points per game for consecutive seasons. In 1952-53 Warden averaged 32.8, 1953-54 he averaged 30.7 and as a senior averaged 34.7 when he led the nation and was a first team NAIA All-American. His four-year scoring average at North Central was a whopping 28.4 ppg. Bill was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers after graduation. He went on to play in the AAU for the Peoria Caterpillar Cats.

Coach Warden was a great guy and a fine coach. He was very patient with the antics of his high school players.
When I was a senior I forgot to bring my jersey for the team photo. The Coach lent his brand new Chevy convertible to Al Carlson and I to drive home to retrieve the jersey.
It was a nice day and Al and I decided to take the top down. What we did not realize was that you had to unzip the rear glass window before you lowered the top.
Bang!! Rear Window broken! We are in deep Kimchee!
We drove to the Mt Greenwood Lutheran Church, found my mother, and borrowed money and her car. Al drove the Chevy to the Chevy dealership to get the window repaired. I drove my mother's car back to school to tell the Coach and face the music.
The Coach as you may remember was a huge guy and very angry. But he did not kill me and for that I am still grateful. Thanks again, Coach, and rest in peace.
Al got the repaired car back to the coach about 6:00 pm.
The Coach was a calm guy and did not hold it against us. In fact he even rebated some of the money - seems he had previously done the same thing and had torn the fabric which we had replaced.

The closest I have been to a current or former President or Vice President was the great President of Vice Spiro Agnew. Beth and I were in a hotel in Hong Kong walking down a narrow and low corridor. There was Spiro. I brushed his sleeve as we walked by.
We smiled and nodded. This was a few years after he left office in disgrace.

I lived in Aspen after college for several years. John Denver lived there, and I used to see him about. Rode a small airplane from Denver to Aspen with him once, and we spoke again when he came in a store I worked in then. Very pleasant, as was his image.
Condelesa Rice gave the college commencement address at one of my children's graduations. We met her. Very calm, down to earth, and modest. Looked directly at who she spoke to - with her full attention. Liked her a lot.
And one of my daughters, who lives in AK, ran into one of those gnarly dudes in town from the TV program. She said he was just pleasant and normal (well, as normal as he gets).

So I met the Governor of Guam... Don't think I ever shook his hand... I remember he came late and left early with an entourage.. Same thing with Harold Washington and Jayne Byrne.. But, I do have picture of Mike Ditka with his arms around both my wife and my secretary at the time... He was the guest speaker at the World Trade Association of Chicago...

I have had a few brushes with greatness. One was when I worked for the Cook County Treasurer in the county bldg in Chicago. I was on the 5th floor with a group of people including Dick Ogilvie waiting for our elevator when across the building Mayor Daley and his entourage approached their elevator. I envisioned barbed wire and fox holes between the two. They were not friendly with each other at the time.
I also was at Republican dinner at the Martinique in Evergreen Park as an aide for State Representative Mary Meany. I had a sash on that said "MEANY" across it and was standing to the side waiting to escort her to the dinner. She was talking to the owner and to King Donavan and Imogene Coca who were starring in a play at the time. In walked George Hamilton, who was young and gorgeous at the time (and dating Lynda Byrd Johnson) to talk to the owner about his appearance the next week in Barefoot in the Park. He took one look at my sash and asked my if I were really a Meany. I wanted to say "why don't you find out for yourself?" but being that Mrs Meany could hear me, I just explained why I was wearing the sash. Darn!!!
Also met Sammy Davis Jr at the Croydon Hotel on Rush St in Chicago. It was after 12 am and he had been playing in Golden Boy at one of the theaters and stopped by to have a drink with some of his friends. I was sitting at the piano bar singing a song (don't remember what it was) when he walked in and suddenly nothing would come out of my mouth. He came over and told me to continue and was just like the guy you saw on TV (cucukachoo and all). Then he sang Birth of the Blues with me. I will never forget that night to my dying day. What a wonderful man.......very short. but wonderful.

Ok, at about the age of twelve, a friend and I were walking along the beach near Indiana Dunes State Park. We were skipping stones when Mayor Richard Daley barked at us for throwing stones because we could hurt somebody. He was surrounded by body guards and his huge bare belly burned an image in my brain that remains to this day.

Great memories. I, too, have had a few moments. While a rodeo cowboy, I regularly met James Caan, Willy Nelson, and a few pro football players who used to calf rope. Met Bill Clinton once at a press tour and town hall meeting with the Cook County Board. Met Paul Newman often while placing admin assistants at his racing team, Newman Hass Racing, and always a nice guy. Attended Ramsey Lewis' parties with an old girl friend who lived a block from him. Used to see Christie Hefner at Karen's office all the time.
The secret to meeting famous people is to treat them like you would everyone else.

I rode the chair and skied with Jill St.John on Aspen (Ajax) Mountain back in 1967, once. She was beautiful, kind, and I was awestruck. Also rode the elevator with Jack Palance in a Holiday Inn in Greenbay WI. He was a little arrogant. The chair ride with Jill was better.

In the late 90's I was invited to an informal reception given in honor of the then- Supreme Court judge William Rehnquist. I say informal because I clearly remember he was wearing a plaid shirt with rolled up sleeves, not a suit and tie. Rehnquist was on holiday in Italy and had been out visiting the Chianti vineyards that day. He was a guest in the consular apartment and the Consul General had organized an evening reception with a buffet supper for a few friends. (I was a friend of the Consul's wife) Rehnquist mingled and chatted amicably with everyone and seemed a very down-to-earth person.

My sister and I met Walter Payton on an elevator, at the old McCormick Inn. We were attending a convention in September, 1990.
I also met Mayor Daley Sr. when I was 16. I was in the hospital for an emergency appendectomy, and he was visiting a friend. He stopped by to say hello to all of the people on the surgical ward.
One other meeting was with Greg Gumbel. He asked me for directions to a country club (I have forgotten the name of). He looked so familiar that I asked him if he went to Morgan Park. He then told me that he was Greg Gumbel with CBS Sports.

Some of us had a mini reunion at Ravinia where we heard Peter, Paul and Mary. Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary joined us at the hotel after the concert.
