Ridge Run Registration Schedule. Online registration for BAPA's Ridge Run ends Wed., May 23 at 8 a.m. You can still register in person at packet pickup locations Thurs., May 24 and Fri., May 25, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sat., May 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Running Excels, 10328 S. Western Ave., and Sun., May 27, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Ridge Park, 9625 S. Longwood DrInfo and registration.

We LOVE Our Memorial Day Parade. BAPA’s Beverly/Morgan Park/Mount Greenwood Memorial Day Parade is one of the oldest community parades in Chicagoland. Don’t miss it! The parade steps off following the Ridge Run on May 28, and honors the men and woman who have given their lives in active service with the U.S. Armed Forces. The American Gold Star Mothers are Grand Marshals, and The Road Home Program is presenting sponsor.

Be a Ridge Run Volunteer. BAPA needs volunteers to help as Ridge Run course marshals to make sure runners stay on the route, and at aid stations where they hand out water. Volunteers get a great view of the racing action and a Love Where You Live volunteer t-shirt. Interested? Sign up for a volunteer spot now and select the volunteer button.

Volunteers Needed to Host Riders in Cycling Classic. Local volunteers are needed to provide overnight accommodations for male and female cyclists from around the world who will be competing in the 16th Annual Beverly Hills Cycling Classic on Fri., Jul. 20. Hosts are asked to provide a comfortable sleeping space, access to a bathroom and kitchen, counter and refrigerator space, use of washing machines and dryers, and a secure place for bicycle storage. Quantum Me Art Installation and Celebration


"Quantum Me," a public art installation by artist Davis McCarty, will be unveiled Sat. May 19, 6 p.m., 99th Street and Walden Parkway. The installation is the result of the Beverly Area Arts Alliance collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events Commissioner Mark Kelly and 19th Ward Ald. Matt O’Shea. Blue House Fundraiser


Catholic Youth Ministry Center at Morgan Park High School (The Blue House) will host its 9th annual fundraiser Sat., May 19, 5 to 10 p.m., 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 W. 115th St.  The $40 donation includes dinner, beer or wine and music. For almost 40 years, the Center has provided students with opportunities for community service, leadership skills development and fellowship. At the event, three volunteers will be recognized for sharing their time and experience at the Blue House: Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Maureen Renno, and Chicago Police Officers Carressa Northcross and Bill Langle. Brews, Bags and Art

It's a bags tournament and charity art auction rolled into one. And don’t forget the brews! Horse Thief Hollow is opening up the parking lot for Brews, Bags and Art Sun., May 20, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.10426 S. Western. The charity will feature live music and face painting. Craft beers and gourmet hot dogs are available for purchase. $50 per team of two registration is required. No cover charge for spectators. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Artists’ visions of the LGBTQ world are shared at the opening reception for abOUT Art, Sun., May 20, 1 to 3 p.m, Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St. Light refreshments courtesy of Ellie's CafĂ© will be provided. Under the Big Top, a concert by the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus, follows the reception at 3 p.m. in the Baffes Theatre at the BAC. Admission to the art reception is free; tickets to the concert are $28 and available here. abOUT Art will run through June 26.

Wildflower Hike in the Woods


Benjamin Cox, one of the volunteer site stewards, Executive Director of Friends of the Forest Preserves, and Beverly/Morgan Park neighbor, invites nature enthusiasts to join him for a guided wildflower hike through the Dan Ryan Woods, Sun., May 20, 1 to 3 p.m.Meet at 87th Street and South Western Avenue. Enjoy the natural beauty as you view a historic Civilian Conservation Corps limestone walkway, spring wildflowers, and the unique geology of our beloved Dan Ryan Woods.

Beverly Art Walk Banners


In honor of the 5th annual Beverly Art Walk (Sat., Sept. 29, 12 to 7 p.m., with artist studio tours on Sun., Sept. 23)  organizers are installing street light pole banners along neighborhood commercial corridors. Banners will be installed the first week of August and remain until at least the first week of October, and can be personalized with a business name or logo, a family or organization name, or a special message. Early Childhood Educators Job Fair
