The Everly Brothers - An Appreciation

Other than perhaps Buddy Holly, or Chuck Berry in his lighter moments, no main stream popular music act of the 1950s expressed the yearnings, anticipation, and adolescent uncertainty of our generation better than the Everly Brothers. Along with Elvis and Little Richard, their recordings were among the first records I bought -- on 78 rpm lacquer discs.

I can still remember the cool older kids, playing air guitar & attempting to emulate their sound. I could not, and still cannot, get enough of their 2 part harmonies.

This weekend, I spent several waking hours listening to their recording - on vinyl and cds. Their recording remain even better than I remembered.

Although they had many poignant songs, "When Will I be Loved?" is  probably my favorite. Along with Linda Ronstadt.

What are your favorite(s)?
